Northridge, CA, June 13, 2002– Radiant Detector Technologies announced today that it has signed a distribution agreement with Ametek, Inc. (better known in the electronics industry by its previous name, Ortec), whereby Ametek will have exclusive distributorship for its Radiant 200™ Cadmium Telluride spectrometer throughout the majority of the world.

Ortec is the premier maker of high-purity germanium detectors and spectrometers used to detect, identify, quantify, and monitor radioactive materials.

"This is a major announcement for us," said Jan Iwanczyk, Ph.D., Radiant’s President and CEO. "That our new portable instrument will be brought to market by an industry leader like Ortec means that the Radiant 200™ can very quickly become the market leader in its class."

Ortec will market the Radiant 200™ alongside its germanium spectrometers. The product will be sold with its DigiDART™ portable MCA and analytical software, the same ones the company sells in conjunction with its germanium spectrometers today.

"The Radiant 200™ is a handheld spectrometer that provides data similar to what you would collect from a small germanium spectrometer. But it is a truly portable unit that needs no cryogenic cooling, broadening the range of applications we can address with our DigiDART portable MCA system," said Tim Twomey, Ortec’s Product Manager for Non Destructive Assay Instrumentation.
