ORTEC Adds High Performance CdTe
Gamma-Ray Detectors to its Product Line by Distribution Agreement with
Radiant Detector Technologies, LLC
Oak Ridge, TN, May 01, 2002 –Advanced Measurement Technology, a division of
AMETEK, Inc. Paoli, PA which includes ORTEC products, announced today that it has signed
an exclusive distribution agreement with Radiant Detector Technologies, LLC. The
distribution agreement covers the sale and distribution of the Radiant 200, a large
volume, high performance Cadmium Telluride detector for x- and gamma-rays.
Radiant 200 achieves an energy resolution approximately ten times better than from the
best NaI(Tl) detectors, and much better than large volume CZT detectors, being beaten in
this regard only by HPGe systems. The detector element itself is cooled by an integral,
miniature, low-power Peltier Cooler, which enhances the resolution performance. It is
available for use three minutes after switch-on.
Radiant 200 is an especially useful tool where a high-resolution detector is needed in
a small portable package. Such applications are found in Nuclear Safeguards and
increasingly in security and safety related fields.
