PINS Non-Invasively Discriminates Chemical Agents from Explosives

Suppose that in your presence are munitions whose contents are either blister agents, nerve agents, or explosives - but you don't know which!

Such unpleasantness can now be quickly resolved by obtaining from ORTEC the PINS Chemical Assay System, which uses neutron interrogation to precisely determine container contents without sampling or exposing the contents to the environment.

PINS, acronym for Portable Isotopic Neutron Spectroscopy, has been extensively used at U.S. Army sites with real munitions. PINS is delivered in rugged, ready-to-transport cases to allow rapid response to both emergency situations and scheduled inspections of stockpile munitions.

PINS identifies blister agents such as mustard gas and Lewisite, nerve agents such as VX and GB (sarin), high explosives, and military smokes. PINS is available in custom configurations.
