News Release 2-GHz Digital Signal Averager Breakthrough for TOF Mass Spectrometry The FASTFLIGHT Digital Signal Averager from ORTEC sets a new frontier for superfast data acquisition with Electrospray Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometers, particularly when the mass spectrometer is analyzing the output of a chromatograph. FASTFLIGHT provides a 2-GHz effective sampling rate and can record 100-microsecond time-of-flight spectra at rates up to 10 spectra/s for more than 30 minutes. A digital signal processor is incorporated to provide real time data compression by a factor of 10. A novel Precision Enhancer transforms the 8-bit input ADC into a 12-bit ADC when averaging multiple records to form a spectrum. FASTFLIGHT utilizes a 25 MB/s fast serial link to a PC for data acquisition. It arrives with ready-to-run mass spectrometry software that operates under Windows® NT. |
