EG&G Instruments has Changed It’s Name to PerkinElmer Instruments

OAK RIDGE, TN, November 1, 1999– PerkinElmer Instruments was introduced to the Oak Ridge industrial community October 26, when EG&G Instruments changed its name as part of a corporate conversion to a totally commercial entity from one based largely on government contracts.

Earlier this year EG&G, Inc., Wellesley, Massachusetts acquired PerkinElmer Analytical Instruments, Norwalk, Connecticut and subsequently sold the remaining portion of the EG&G government contracting business. "We are very excited about new opportunities presented by the addition of the PerkinElmer Analytical Instruments group to our company" said Jon Kidder, President. "The corporate focus is now totally on the high technology growth markets and we anticipate continued improvement and growth in our instruments business."

Over the past five years, EG&G has successfully transitioned from a company that relied on U.S. government contracts to one that is exclusively focused on Global commercial technology markets, and in particular, scientific instruments. The name PerkinElmer is internationally recognized as a leading scientific instrument brand and is currently represented in over 100 countries worldwide. The new name is part of an overall effort to build product and service strategy under one strong brand.

PerkinElmer Instruments, Oak Ridge, Tennessee will continue to supply the products and services of the ORTEC, Princeton Applied Research, Signal Recovery, Berthold, and Fiber Optics product lines.
