Advanced Digital Portable Gamma Ray Spectrometer System

OAK RIDGE, TN, January 2, 2001– PerkinElmer Instruments - ORTEC announces the release of an advanced portable HPGe Gamma Ray Spectrometry System. An all-new Digital, portable MCA, DigiDART which may be used with any existing HPGe detector, is optimally deployed in conjunction with the revolutionary SMART-1 type HPGe detectors recently released by PerkinElmer Instruments - ORTEC. The combined portable system features a built-in LCD display (no computer needed in the field), DIGITAL stability, high throughput and up to 12 hour operational life from a single rechargeable battery. The DigiDART can perform activity calculations in-field, without the use of an associated computer, and can store large numbers of spectra in an internal memory. The SMART-1 detector monitors its own "state of health," checking preamplifier voltages, HV bias and temperature of the detector element, warning the operator of any out of tolerance behavior. In addition the SMART-1/DigiDART combination authenticates spectra data to ensure chain of custody integrity.
