Germanium (HPGe) Detector for Low-Energy X Rays

The IGLET detector geometry results in substantially better resolution
than is achievable with Germanium planar detectors. By virtue of a proprietary detector-element
geometry and an advanced reset-feedback preamplifier, the IGLET offers unmatched
performance from 3 keV to 30 keV, the energy range for XAFS measurements at synchrotron
light sources. Furthermore, the IGLET has unmatched warranted performance at 100,000
cps, thus ensuring full exploitation of the extreme brightness of x-ray beams at the

A thin Be window is provided which is 80 to 90% transparent to 3-keV x
rays. The factory may be contacted to discuss alternate choices of appropriate entrance
window for your particular application.Individual Detector or Multi-Channel Arrays
The IGLET is available either as an individual detector in an
individual cryostat or in multi-channel arrays.Ordering Information
Individual IGLET detectors can be supplied in ORTEC
"streamline," but not PopTop, cryostats. The choices are vertical dipstick (SV),
horizontal dipstick (SH), side-looking "bucket" (SL), down-looking
"bucket" (SD), and Gamma Gage (GG). For spectroscopy on extremely small targets
JIM series cryostats with their small diameter are the best choice. There are several
